The noble cultural order of Java is reflected in the values embodied in the
letter setting. Once careful, the Javanese ancestors delivered the sublime
message letter by letter, to word by word. And every word has such deep meaning
as parents advise their children from time to time.
The values embodied always
teach human to remember to his creator (read: god) and to keep balance in the
lives of human and nature. Here is a brief explanation of the Javanese letter:

Po Dho Jo Yo Nyo
Mo Go Bo Tho Ngo
Ho – “Hana hurip
wening suci” (The existence of life is the will of the holy one)
No – “Nur
candra, gaib candra, warsitaning candra” (Man's only hope is in god's light)
Co – “Cipta wening, cipta mandulu, cipta dadi” (Direction and purpose in god)
Ro –
“Rasaingsun handulusih” (True love springs from love of heart)
Ko –
“Karsaningsun memayuhayuning bawana” (Passion is directed to the well-being of
nature)
Do – “Dumadining dhat kang tanpa winangenan” (Accept life as it is)
To –
“Tatas, tutus, titis, titi, lan wibawa” (The fundamentals, the totality, the one
vision, the care to look upon life)
So – “Sifat ingsun handulu sifatullah”
(Embody the virtues of compassion like the love of god)
Wo – “Wujud hana tan
kena kinira” (Human science is limited but its impact can be without limit)
Lo –
“Lir handaya paseban jati” (Live by the guidance of god)
Po – “Papan kang tanpa
kiblat” (The principle of god in all directions)
Dho – “Dhuwur wekasane endek
wiwitane” (Well, to get to the top of the stairs, of course, start with the
bottom)
Jo – “Jumbuhing kawula lan Gusti” (Always trying to come together to
understand god's will)
Yo – “Yakin marang samubarang tumindak kang dumadi”
(Confident in god's will)
Nyo – “Nyata tanpa mata, ngerti tanpa diwuruki”
(Correctly understanding the nature of life)
Mo – “Madhep mantep manembah maring
Ilahi” (Confident in worshiping god)
Go – “Guru sejati sing muruki” (Learning
from a true master)
Bo – “Bayu sejati kang andalani” (Conform to nature)
Tho –
“Tukul saka niat” (Something must begin and grow from intention)
Ngo – “Ngracut
busananing manungso” (Letting go of human ego).
